I know: a clip from a short isn't the most satisfying thing in the world. But what the hell, it's a slowish news day as the industry bogs down in the middle of TIFF and the end of the big fall festival season. This short, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Thor's Hammer, which bridges Marvel Studios films Iron Man 2 and Thor, looks a bit more cheeky, too, than the previous one, The Consultant. It's not quite where I'd like to see Marvel going with their shorts, but as a start I'll accept the concept of providing not-quite-essential connective tissue between films. That's a time-honored comic book fill-in story idea, anyway — sort of the comics version of TV's 'bottle episode' concept.
So spend a few seconds with Clark Gregg as SHIELD Agent Coulson after the break, as he makes his way to New Mexico to find the hammer of Thor.
A Funny Thing cinematographer David Myrick posted this clip, and you'll be able to see the full short on the Captain America blu-ray release later this year. I'm curious to see what happens to The Hottest Convenience Store Clerk in the World. [via Hollywood.com]
