Dirk Benedict To Cameo in The A-Team

A-Team

Earlier this month, we learned that Dwight Schultz, the original Howling Mad Murdock, would be making a cameo in the Joe Carnahan's big screen film adaptation of The A-Team. Cinematical now has word that Dirk Benedict, who played Templeton "Faceman" Peck in the original television series, also has a cameo.

Mr. T, who many will remember as the original B.A. Baracus, has said publicly that he was offered a cameo but turned it down, explaining "it's insulting me to ask me to be in it [as someone else]. It's just like my ex-girlfriend saying 'Why don't you come out to dinner with my new boyfriend?' You see what I mean? I am not going to do that."

New Human Target Promo Trailer

Fox has aired this new promo trailer for Human Target starring Mark Valley (Fringe) and Jackie Earle Haley (Watchmen), the television series adaptation of the DC Comics Vertigo-label comic. Watch it now after the jump.

The new event drama, HUMAN TARGET, premieres with a special preview Sunday, Jan. 17 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) following the NFC Divisional Playoff game. HUMAN TARGET is a full-throttle, action-packed thrill ride from executive producers McG ("Terminator Salvation") and Simon West ("Con Air," "Tomb Raider"). Based on the popular DC Comics graphic novel and starring Mark Valley (FRINGE), Chi McBride ("Pushing Daisies") and Academy Award nominee Jackie Earle Haley ("Watchmen"), the series follows CHRISTOPHER CHANCE (Valley), a unique private contractor who will stop at nothing even if it means becoming a human target to keep his clients alive.

Making a Scene: Avatar - Flying With Banshees

Fox Movie Channel has released their Making a Scene segment on James Cameron's Avatar on Hulu. The ten minute segment takes a look at a scene in the film when Jake Sully and Neytiri fly together on Banshees for the first time. This just happens to be Cameron's favorite moment in the film. I did an interview with IFC at Fantastic Fest, where I raved about this sequence. To me, seeing the moment where Jake first flys on the big screen, in 3D, is magical. And no, seeing it on your computer monitor in low resolution, certainly doesn't do it justice.

The segment gives us a glimpse at the work that went on behind the scenes to create this scene. It's fine if you're not impressed by how Avatar looks, butafter watching this featurette, you should at least be impressed by some of the the technical innovations and processes that were created to make this film. The King of Fighters Promo Trailer, Starring Ray Park and Maggie Q

This promo trailer for Gordon Chan's upcoming King of Fighters—yes, yet another fighting game film adaptation—is both simultaneously hilarious in its total cheese-factor, and also totally depressing when you remember that this guy directed Fist of Legend. Our friends over at Quiet Earth dug up this trailer, and I agree with them that this looks like the second coming of Corey Yuen's D.O.A: Dead or Alive.

That could either be great news, terrible news, or a bit of both. I'm leaning towards the latter.

Even as a fan of the SNK King of Fighters video game series that this film is based on, I can barely tell what's going on in this trailer. The film stars Sean Faris (Never Back Down) as Kyo Kusanagi (in the games he was the leader of the Japan team. So, um, yah…), Will Yun Lee (Elektra, Bionic Woman) as Kyo's rival Iori Yagami, Maggie Q as Mai Shiranui—and of most interest to the lot of you, Darth Maul himself, Ray Park, as the big-bad Rugal Bernstein.

Watching this trailer, I have a hard time remembering how Chan could craft such a sublimely perfect martial arts film like Fist of Legend. To his credit, he actually wrote that film—this movie was scripted by newcomers Rita Augustine and Matthew Ryan Fischer. Then again, Chan also wrote and directed Jackie Chan vehicle The Medallion, a movie so bad I still regret watching it to this day.

The King of Fighters games were fairly popular among hardcore 2D fighting game fans, primarily because it collected characters from several SNK games. It was notable for having a rich back story that was better than anything that came out of the Street Fighter games (not saying much, I know). I'm pretty sure we can forget all about that with this film.

At this point all we can hope for is good action, but I'm not even getting those vibes from the trailer. We can expect this film some time in 2010.
